Where the Road Becomes an Expedition
Mana, India's last inhabited village, marks the beginning of an extraordinary journey into the remote Himalayan wilderness. Beyond the familiar pilgrimage landscape of Badrinath, the route enters a dramatic frontier corridor shaped by altitude, rugged terrain and vast mountain landscapes.
From Mana, the trail continues via Vasudhara Falls, Lakshmi Van and Chakra Tirth, gradually ascending through an increasingly stark and exposed Himalayan landscape. Vegetation fades, settlements disappear, and towering rock faces, glaciers and snow-covered peaks define the journey.
The ultimate destination is Satopanth Tal, a sacred triangular glacial lake nestled at 4,600 metres, guarded by the majestic peaks of Chaukhamba and Neelkanth. According to Hindu mythology, the lake is associated with the Pandavas' final ascent towards heaven, as described in the Mahabharata.
Surrounded by pristine wilderness and profound spiritual significance, Satopanth Tal offers an experience that goes beyond conventional trekking — a journey of devotion, endurance and exploration into one of the most extraordinary landscapes of the Indian Himalayas.

This Is Not a Regular Trek
Mana Pass lies inside a sensitive border region. Access beyond Mana is controlled and may require specific permissions and security clearance.
Prepare for Extreme Altitude
The journey rises above 5,600 metres.
Proper acclimatisation is essential, and movement at higher elevations must be conservative.
Medical Fitness Matters
Travellers should disclose relevant medical conditions before departure.
The Schedule Is Flexible
At this altitude and in this region, an itinerary is a plan — not a promise.
Snowfall, weather, road damage, military movement, administrative restrictions or safety conditions may alter or stop the expedition.
Expedition Leadership Has Final Say
If conditions become unsuitable, the route may be shortened, altered or terminated.
